There are lossy bitmap compression algs that can "stacK" or compound if you will.
Generic files could be hosted via Amy fileserver. CopyParty is a great fileserver suite, you can self host that and send links via nostr notes or DMs.

With the greatest respect- the only thing I would say about the podcasts moving to layer two is that there perhaps might be a tendency to identify the problem without offering a solution- which provides hope. I think a regular post just uses your write relays. Post, and done. And you don't need to think about relays.
But if you are selecting, sets help you organize what goes where, and you can the same relays across multiple sets.
